|FWP Matthews Cotswold Flours|
Today was exciting, we visited a mill in Shipton-under-Wychwood in Oxfordshire. It’s home to FWP Matthews, one of the few family run commercial mills. It’s built right next to the train station and opened in 1912. Previously, in the late 1800s, the family had grown the grains in the nearby Cotswold fields and the mill became an extension of the business.

The old building in its glorious yellow stone is still a hive of activity and the mill creates a variety of bread and other flours. They have also partnered up with a French firm importing some grain for a French bread flour.
The test is in the product and I’ve immediately got to work on the first loaf which will be an apricot and sunflower seed Cotswold crunch as a thank you to the in laws for taking us there.
