I’m really looking forward to next weekend. I’m meeting up with my good friend Dave to help make a short film. It’s called Writer’s Block and Dave is directing while Alan and a guy called Tony are acting. My role is to, well, do whatever has to be done. A set of hands. I might be dressing a set, operating a camera, recording the sound or maybe just getting Dave a Pepsi! You know what as well, I really don’t mind and the reason for that is because I just really enjoy the process. Film making is my creativity and it’s been a while since I exercised that muscle. I’ve helped groups make films, but it’s been a while since I made something with a script for no other reason than to make one. FIlm making can be a drawn out process – there’s a lot of planning to do and when you’re actually making it, there can be a lot of standing around but it really doesn’t bother me. As far as I’m concerned it’s art in the making and it shouldn’t be spoilt by rushing. I’m going to blog about the ‘making of’ and might try and take some photos. I know it’s only a day or maybe two but, hey, why not?
